“The Chain” of Horror

Right this just isn’t on. ITV have said they’re replacing the music for Forumla 1 for the third time in 5 years. Thee brand new, invigoriating theme is “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.”

Now correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s the Smashy and Nicey music by Bachman Turner Overdrive.

I wish ITV would admit they’ve got it all wrong, and that there is only one piece of music that the public in the UK associate with Formula 1, and that’s The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.

No matter where you are, whenver you hear the opening Bass guitar on that track, you know it’s time for some real racing. ITV knew they had to carry over Murray (and let’s not get starterd on James “Are you ready, are you ready, are you ready!!!” Allen’s commentating) when they stole F1 from the BBC, but trying to tie up an old 70’s Rock Tune that’s already deeply associated with something other than racing defeats the point.

We want The Chain.
