Letting Go Of Code

There comes a time when I have to stop coding improvements into applications and publish them so everyone can tell me what’s wrong with them. I think it’s getting very close to that point with Cera.

Cera is an Outliner program. It can be used as a simple notepad, but it allows you to create notes that are offshoots of other notes. So you could have “Shopping,” two sub-notes with “Asda” and “Boots,” and then sub-notes coming off these for what you need to buy.

That’s only one use. I’ve found similar apps to be incredibly useful on my Psion and Palm machines - so with OPL back on the scene, it was time to get cracking with something other than a maddening puzzle game.

Cera (which is a ropey latin translation of a wax writing table) wasn’t the original name for the app. If you’ve heard me talking about Tree, then this is the same application. Here’s what it looks like in action on the 9210.

There are a whole bundle of features that I want to add, but it’s time to put it out in the wild and see what happens in terms of user features. The twiddly bits can wait. I’m sure I’ll write more about this, but in the meantime, watch out for Cera in the next week or so.
