Getting Ready For Friday’s Tube Run

Well, it’s all hotting up. Some more details and confirming a few things. Be at Vauxhall Tube Station for 12.20 if you want to join us, outside the Ticket Office. When it’s all over, head to The Horse and Groom in Great Portland Street. We shuld (fingers crossed) have the room upstairs. Thanks to Geoff for that.

We’ll be sending a Press Release round the usual media haunts tomorrow, so watch for us in the unlikely hope that Metro picks up on this. And now, the teams, and those who’ve said they’d come along.

  • Me (naturally), running with Jordan Holt, Rafe Blandford and Suw CharmanGeoff Marshall and Neil Blake (the Record Holders elect)
  • Jody Armstrong, with Dom and Mark.
  • James ‘imajes‘ from #Joiito with Tom Reynolds.
  • Adham Fisher
  • Stephen Knight
  • Steve Pauli
  • The Mole
  • Zeibura Kathau and friends
  • For those wondering, Jack Welsby (the current World Record holder) can’t make it, but may trundle along to the pub at the end. The pub itself is open house to anyone who wants to come along and say good bye to me as well. On the list of entrants (so far) did I miss anyone? If I did, either comment, or see you at the barriers on Friday! Any more questions, comment here?

Oh, so no chance of a crowded platform then … :-)

Good luck guys - who’s this other Mole (imposter) who’s coming along - it’s not me ;-) , and has caused some confusion.

Keep me posted with how it all goes though

      All the best

Ive only recently found out about the zone 1 challenge (thanks to geoff) and its my first such attempt. Ive been working flatout today with a calculator, maps and shed loads of paper to work out a plan of action! However i doubt I will be able to go to the pub aftawards because I have to be back in Farnborough by 5:30pm for evening shift! So part of my challenge is gettign back to Waterloo for 4:10 at the latest!:-( See u lot on Friday:-)!!!!!

You can write my name in ink now. See you on Platform Northbound.

    5. Geofftech on July 29th, 2004 9:20

Adman… on the platform? meet by the barrier!! So we can all take photos beforehand.

And don’t forget - you don’t have to go Northbound! Nothing to say that you can’t go south, change at Stockwell, and then head up the Northern Line… ;-)

      Geoff.

I’m unable to make it due to work issues now unfortunately. Hope you all have fun, the tube is going to very very hot on Friday!!! I think Geoff and Neil will be the team to beat.

    7. Neil (from Geoff and Neil) on July 29th, 2004 12:31

Don’t build us up too much will you?

      We may lose spectacularly!

    8. Peter Smyth on July 29th, 2004 18:04

You can add me to the list of participants. I am the unofficial record holder at 3h17m although I am probably also the only person sad enough to do it before now :-)

    9. The Mole on July 29th, 2004 22:31

As much as I would like to be there for 12.30, I now have a (much awaited) job interview so will have to drop out - sorry!

There’ve been delays on the northern line all week, the south wimbledon signals dont seem to like hot weather at all. Metropolitan line’s been playing up too but that doesn’t really matter. I had to wait THIRTEEN minutes at balham today (not route testing), if stuff like that happens i think that we’re all pretty screwed.
Is the camera absolutely necessary? Cos I cant get hold of anything with an LCD display so if we did take any pics we wouldnt be able to show them round.
      Ahwell, seeyou tomorrow anyway
