Eilidh and Mairi’s Development Check

The girls both had development checks today, and Mairi had her first set of immunisations too.
Mairi’s check went well, the only issue is that she sleeps on her front instead of her back – the health visitor said as long as we keep trying her on her back she should eventually learn to sleep that way. Other than that she’s fine, she now weighs 13lb 9oz (14oz gain on last week) and is just over the 91st centile. She’s 58.5cm long (23″) which is between the 75th and 91st centiles – Eilidh was 20 weeks old before she was that length! She really howled when she had her immunisations, and she’s a bit miserable now, I’m trying to get her to take some Calpol, but she just chokes.
Eilidh’s two year check was over really quickly! A student health visitor came in after a few minutes to observe (she’d watched Mairi’s checks too) but by the time she came in, it was over! Eilidh did all the tests first time with no hesitation and was perfectly behaved so it took no time at all. She named the animals in the book, made their noises (and a few signs too, they’ve been doing them on CBeebies), slid the beads along the curly wires, built a 10-block tower then counted the bricks, kicked the ball and pointed to all her bodyparts when asked. I just sat there beaming with pride :D The health visitor said she did a lot better than some three year olds. My clever girl :D The health visitor had no concerns about her weight/height – she’s just over 2 stone (just under 91st centile) and 85.5cm/34″ (between the 25th and 50th centiles) but apparently it’s nothing to worry about until she’s school-age. The health visitor described her as “healthily chubby” and not fat.
So that’s my proud mummy report over! I’ll try and get another website update done soon.
