Little Doctor Who Casting Script
Picture the scene, early 2004, as Lou and Andy are coming out of the final casting call for the return of Doctor Who.
Lou: So you’re happy with Christopher Ecclestone then as the new Doctor.
Andy: Yeah.
Lou:He’s absolutely perfect. Just what we all want.
Andy: Yeah, I know.
Lou: He’s going to be The Doctor for a generation of children
Andy: Yeah… [Stops and points at a poster for BBC3's Casanova] …Want that one.
Lou: But that’s David Tennant. You want to cast David Tennant as Doctor Who?
Andy: Yeah.
Lou: But we’ve just cast Christopher!
Andy: I know… Want that one.
Lou: Well I must say I’m shocked. You always said we needed an actor with gravitas, and standing, who was respectable-
Andy: Yeah.
Lou: One who would make the program something to be proud of-
Andy: Yeah.
Lou: Not some 12 year old baby faced favourite of the Executive Producer.
Andy: Yeah, I know… Want that one.
Lou: But we’ve signed the contract with Christopher for at least one season!
Andy: Yeah, I know.
Lou: You didn’t want a regeneration so soon.
Andy: Yeah.
Lou: It might scare people away from the rest of the first season, not to mention the action figures won’t sell.
Andy. I know… [points at the poster again] …Want that one.
Lou: Okay… [Lou spins the wheelchair around and heads back into the Anthony Ainley Casting Couch Lounge].
