Visitng Mike, Ellie and Russ

Had a chance to catch up with people I know in the San Jose / Bay area yesterday, namely Mike Rowehl (Feedster and Mobile Mondays), Elle Kruszewski and Russ Beattie. Mike and Elle is clearly a house that has a lot of geeks passing through it - why else would a whiteboard in the kitchen be covered in java classes and php notes?
Probably the most useful thing was that the house had Wi-Fi (unlike my Travelodge) so it was a chance to get online, grab the 300 odd emails waiting for me (of which about 15 were real…), post up the blog entries and hope Vikki was still up. She wasn’t. Time zone differences and all that.
Looks like Geoff and Co had great time on Friday with the second annual “Zone One Tube Challenge.” I’m so disappointed that I couldn’t make it, but with the travel over here so close to the date of the run it would have been another day or two away from the family on top of this trip. Congratulations to the eighteen (!) teams that entered - Geoff’s got a monster report on all the teams, which made great reading. I think Elle would like to try the challenge at some point after hearing about it yesterday.
Big thanks to Mike and Elle for the barbeque, and for Russ for popping over. It was relaxed enough to recharge my batteries, with enough good-natured debate and chat to get me read for DevCon.
