Podcasting The Edinburgh Fringe

I’m seriously considering putting together a “Edinburgh Fringe” Podcast, in conjunction (obviously) with The Podcast Network. I’ve had a hint of an idea about this for some time, and then main worry has been twofold. The first, having the time to get out in the evening to see the acts and interview them (plus all the arranging that involves) looks to have been solved. The second is financial. I’m not going to be able to do any MTS shift work if I were to cover the Fringe properly, so there’s got to be some financial recompense.

The obvious models are going to be either global sponsorship of the shows, or commercials during the show (a la the central sixty seconds of the Rock Music Podcast. Next week I’m going to follow up on both, and if it hits the break even point plus 10% (just for luck) then the show is going to get a green light.

Toying with format, but looking at a 30 minute show, going out Monday to Saturday from the 7th Augst for three wek. Shows should be up at 11am every day. Given it’s the fringe, I’ll probably focus on the comedians at the Fringe, along with some inside information about the bits of Edinburgh you really need to visit if you ever come up here, plus the delightful me holding it all together.

So, open forum now, to all you out there. Is this going to be something you’re all interested in? Something you’d download and listen to? What do you want to see? As I’m still in the planning stage, it shouldn’t be difficult to incorporate the good ideas. Let’s hear the ideas.
