Children’s Author Terry Pratchett is attempting to start a hissy fit with JK Rowling over Harry Potter as a Fantasy novel. Rowling has denied she started off thinking of it as fantasy. Pratchett’s reply? “I would have thought that the wizards, witches, trolls, unicorns, hidden worlds, jumping chocolate frogs, owl mail, magic food, ghosts, broomsticks and spells would have given her a clue.”

Hauntingly familiar to a charity event that Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust organised (and yes, I was there at the conception) is World Jump Day. Theor thinking is everyone jumping at the smae time will shift the Earth’s obit – handling forgetting that people on Australlia will cancel out any people in the UK. The Anthony Nolan plan (Speed The World [up]) saw everyone run east at the same time to attempt to increase the rotation of the Earth, and gift everyone in the world an extra second.
