TPN Rock #43 - With Added Doctor Who Goodies

Oooh TPN Rock #43 is a good one this week. I mean, they’re all good, but there are some shows that once I listen back to them just work really well, with a good mix of music, decent chat. #43 is one of those that gets an extra special thumbs up.

TPN Rock: The Rock Show on The Podcast Network

So why is it the mutts nutts? Obviously it’s the music, and the tracks this week are, as usual, ones that I’ve taken time to hunt out. I tend not to fall back on ‘podsafe’ music sites although I do keep an eye on them. My thinking on that is that it’s very easy for any music based podcast to use these sites, especially the Podshow derived Podsafe Music Network. If I’m going to deliver new music to listeners, then it has to be new, and not the same tracks that other casts have played. I’m worried about PMN especially pushing certain songs and all of a sudden we have a Clear Channel like “rotation” of favoured tracks.

Which is one of the reasons I turned my back on mainstream radio for new music (’cept for John Peel).

I’m most proud of snagging Tim Phillips (Cathead) in the show. He was the singer behind “Song for Ten,” the Phil Spector-like track in Doctor Who’s Christmas Invasion. Then there’s Drew Parker’s song about Charles Lee. Or Edinburgh based Another Volt, who did the “John Peel Route” by sending me a link to their tracks online and asking ever so nicely to be on the show…

Look it rocks this week. If you’re a subscriber, then it should be in your Podcatching client now. If you’re not, why not hit the website, grab the MP3 (direct link to MP3, 30mb) or subscribe in iTunes!
