TPN Rock Session With The Outfit.

So I’ve been juggling TPN Rock while I’m away in the USA doing all the Tech Conference Podcasts. There’s been a few things to consider, but the two main ones are the one year anniversary of TPN Rock (which will be on March 25th) and my ability to really promote the two year end shows, TPN Rock #2005 and Rock [The Year] Again. I can’t do a massive push while I’m still in the states, so the first of two celebration shows will go out the Friday after I get back (so probably March 31st for Rock The Year Again, with the #2005 show the week after. TPN Rock #50 is going to do the normal format, of looking back at the previous decade of shows (so in this case #41 to #49).

Which leaves today as being a null show - but there’s no way that I’m going to skip a Friday show. I’ve never skipped one of those (although I had to sacrifice this week’s Rock Again due to time constraints, sorry to everyone who sent an email asking what was up). I’ve had my eyes on this gap for a month or so, and I think what I cam up with is pretty spiffy.

It’s another ‘feature one band’ show, following up on the success of The Martians show over the 2005 festive period. But where Jerry, John and Houston had some new studio tracks to showcase, The Outfit (who have the honour of being the second ’session’) are much more your typical Scottish pub band, so while they do have an album, their strength is performing live. Luckily they were playing Edinburgh at the tail end of February, and Bob Leslie was more than happy for me to throw a million extra cables onto the stage, mic up the drums, pull out monitor signals and a bundle of other things into my mixer so I could capture their live performance.

The result, after a bit of editing work (they do a number of covers, and there was a certain amount of juggling audio clips to make all the cuts hang together) is this week’s TPN Rock. Go grab the MP3 file, subscribe to the RSS feed, and don’t forget to let The Outfit know what you think.
