The Mellow Monday Show Debuts on The Podcast Network
Mark Hunter’s Mellow Monday Show, announced here last week, has had its first show put into the rss feed today. It’s very much a counterpoint show to the power chords and crashing anthems of TPN Rock.
Why is this show important, apart from the fact that it’s a great genre, and everyone needs a gentle lift on a Monday morning as they head into work? Well, Mark (who will continue to run the Tartan Podcast as an independent podcast) addresses this in the show…
Some of you may already know me… I’ve been producing podcasts for over a year. I was signed up as a PodShow producer for seven months, but I terminated my contract in January 2006 for various different reasons. I wasn’t considering signing up to produce a podcast for any of the other networks out there, but so far my experience with Cameron [Reilly] and the team here at TPN is really refreshing. The atmosphere’s relaxed, it’s friendly, and it’s responsive, and I hope that The Podcast Network’s ranks will grow as more people learn about them and realise that there is an alternative podcast network to the 800lb gorilla that is PodShow.
As one of the few podcasters able to talk about the experience of working with PodShow, to hear these comments means a lot. Having been burned once, Mark’s confidence in where we are going with TPN is a great sign to Cameron, myself and the rest of the team.
It also means that we’ve got a fair number of music shows at TPN, and that’s great as well. And I’m half tempted to rename TPN Rock’s main show to “The Friday Rock Show” but I’m not sure I could, with all seriousness, appear in the same breath with one of the obvious comparisons.
