Ricky Gervais in The Simpsons

Sorry folks, never found Ricky Gervais funny before, still don;t find him funny, and I cant believe that he managed to take potentially a classic “Simpsons” plot and mug so badly throughout the entire thing that I wanted to switch him off.
He’s probably a great bloke down the pub, but in public? He’s as popular as my scottish accent in a Sony PSP podcast… Good luck Audible, and I bet you’re glad I’m in the minority.

I agree. It was an awful episode. Didn’t deserve all the coverage Sky gave it, even if it did have an HDTV theme. At least now, we’ll hopefully see an end to the annoying Ricky Gervais adverts everwhere! :-)
Ewan,
have to agree with you. I was expecting something rather good following the hype on Sky about the show, and then did get to walk out for part of it, and didn’t really care that I’d missed part. The kids were sucked into the hype, and the ads, which goes to show, who the show’s aimed at I guess. But then I’ve never seen the Office, so maybe it’s better than this. Still, it was kinda pathetic given the hype.
Maybe it was clever scheduling by Sky - was it just me who thought it was a 30 minute advert for Sky HD, showing off the enhanced quality that HDTV offers and the lengths (some strange) people would go to in order to buy one?!
I’m a big Gervais fan, and as I haven’t seen the Simpsons episode in question I can’t comment on it.
However, I am in possesion of a signed table-read script of the episode gifted to me by Yeardley Smith last May, almost a year before it aired in the UK.
I was very pleased indeed ;-)
