The Edinburgh Fringe Podcast ‘s”Sunday Funky Supplement”
One of the things I’m glad to announce about this years Edinburgh Fringe Podcast is that once the Fringe starts, you’ll be able to get a new show every day. Last year, I took Sundays off (to catch up on little things like sleep, moving house, and to get away from the editing suite for a few hours!) and while I’ll be doing that again this year, I’m pleased to announce that a dedicated Sunday show will be available.
The “Sunday Funky Supplement” will be hosted by Stewart Lochhead. In his words, you (and me) are to expect the unexpected as he brings his long experience of working in theatre, radio, and the music business since 1962 to bear on the Fringe.
The regular guests for the Funky Supplement are Bob Flynn and Gay Bell. Bob is a print journalist with years of Fringe review experience. He will come direct from completing copy deadlines for the Guardian, Independent, Times and Herald to deliver his fresh and opinionated reviews. Bob makes his living reviewing film, music, theatre and the arts and brings a professional eye from the mainstream media to the show.
Gay Bell is a musician (formerly of the Twin Sets, now in 101 Damnations) and brings years of experience and contacts in the Edinburgh music scene to Funky Supplement. More recently she has performed in Fringe cabaret and sang last year at The Stand in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. She previously trod the boards in the Fringe play ‘The Only Woman in a Cast of Naked Young Men’, a playing the parts of Opera Singer, Woman at a Funeral and Hooker, involving some nifty costume changes. She and her sister will be singing in the cabaret ‘Heaven and Hell’ in the Cafe Royal Bistro on 30th of September.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the show, not only because it’ll be the frist time I get to listen to a Fringe podcast that I’ve not edited myself, but also because the Fringe is such a diverse range of talent and people, everyone has a different opinion on what worth the ticket price, and what isn’t. Stewart’s lunchtime show on Leith FM always had a way of looking at things slightly differntly to the norm, and I’m expecting the Funky Supplement to do the same with the Fringe.
