War, Death, Destruction, Stay At Home and put on the Radio
Oh what glorious news, now that the Government has captured some ‘potential bombers,’ it’s time to make sure the travelling public know how serious it is by making sure they are as inconvenienced as possible by forcing hand luggage into the hold because of ‘terror.’
Part of me harks back to Franklin D Roosevelt, “the only thing to fear is fear itself.” And there’s a lot of Fear Fud about at the moment – yes I know that’s fear twice but it looks good written down. Let’s not go down the dcsussion that this ‘technology’ has been known to be in the hands of plannign groups since 1995.
I just love my first thoughts on the issue. Firstly, i had just booked tickets to the USA the night before (more on that in a mo), but secondly, I was so jealous of MIcke Grahame, who had the mid-morning slot on Talk 107 and this great material to work with. I think it’s fair to say that Talk 107 on Thursday was what the station should strive for every day. Talking about national issues with a local persepctive, looking up outside the boundaries of the transmission area, going from a light handling at breakfast, then more depth mid morning, some gentle afternoon humour, looking over more details in drivetime with a massive deconstruction at the end of the day with Adrian Allan.
I hope the management were taking notes.
