Second Life Thoughts - Two Weeks Old

Okay, I think it’s fair to say I’m in Second Life for keeps - when I got home last night (in Real Life) and saw the mess of the bedroom for a moment I wished I could have just highlighted everything and zoomed them up 100 metres into the sky for safe keeping.

What gets me now, is how much to tie my Second Life existence through this blog, and my other online stuff. There is a temptation to just replicate the circle of friends in RL in SL (see, new langauges already); and while I have caught with some folk, I don’t want to use SL as another IM with the same contact list as I have in Skype, GTalk and MSN (and AOL, and Gaim, and Yahoo). I mean, having people in there to get me started was great, especially as Nixande now seems to be my landlord…

My Landord, Nixande

…but I think I’m going to strike out on my own in SL. Looking at my friends list after three weeks, there’s about 20 names, and maybe 4 of them I’ve met in RL (or at least that I know about in RL!). I’ve a whole group of people I’ve met in SL, and I’ve made decision in what I’m going to do (as usual though, I want something big - I will keep you in tocuh with that if it happens), but for now, I’m off to read Snow Crash and go “ahhh.”
