Anti-Piracy ‘Boy Scout Badge’ Awarded
Absolutley ridiculous. BBC News reports that the BPI (UK equivalent of the RIAA) is having to ‘rely on the goodwill of trading standards to uncover counterfeit CD’s’ so much that they have awarded a Government employed official the British Phonographic Industry’s Anti-Piracy commendation.
Yes counterfeiting is a problem, but the problem is you cannot continue to market and sell music in the same way as even five years ago. Change the business practice and evolve, don’t try to nail jelly down. And stop equating the loss to the music industry as being exactly equal to the high street value of the CD’s. The chances are people wouldn’t have bought the music unless it was a couple of pounds down The Barras.
