More Second Life Thoughts, and the Alt Dilema

So, Second Life. Been in game now for over a month now, and having made the decision to strike out on my own, and divorce my SL avatar from any real world contacts I have (with one or two exceptions) it’s been an amazing ride, that is still going on. One of the things that got to me at the Portable Media and Podcast Expo was that I didn’t want to expose my avatar to the people there who knew me in RL. Why? Because that’s a different person in my head (schizophrenia, I know…) and to have them talking to someone who is, in essence, not me, would be difficult. So scratch, for example, going to the SL meetup.
I also suspect that I’m going to have to make some sort of contact with people in the strange space that is between SL and RL (unless Phillip Linden does a Pope on limbo). Which means I need an alt in SL. The alt will be me to all intents and purposes, and if you need to find me in Second Life, then you need to be looking to Comhrag McLeod.
Those of you who know me from conferences may recognise me from a distance in any case…
