1% of a Lot is… a Lot

If there are 201 plus million internet users in the USA, and 12% have downloaded a podcast, that’s 24 million people. Even the low number of 1% downloading a podcast on a typical day (which would mean they’re subscribed to something like Today in Music History or up to five weekly podcasts) that’s still an audience of 2 million US listeners. Thats not to be sneezed at when you consider shows on American network TV such as Battlestar Galactica pull in around 2.4 million viewers (Nielsen rating of 1.5). Stand by for the older media to portray this 1% as a really bad thing and the death of casting. FUD on demand, gotta love it.
