Today In Music History Hits a Home Run
One of the surprising things in the monthly TPN download stats is the lower than expected number of people listening to Brian Ibbot’s “Today in Music History” podcast. It’s still mightly impressive for a show that’s only been going 5 weeks, but part of me expected it to be even more popular.
There’s a scene in Wayne’s World, where Mike Myers breaks into the chorus of “Hey Mickey” while driving along the road because he heard it on the radio. Well, every morning Brian is pulling out some absolute gems of music (fully ASCAP licenced) that lodge in my head for the rest of the day, along with some jaw dropping trivia that even I’ve never heard before.
At around 4 minutes each day it’s perfect for mobile, great to get you going in the morning, and a lovely little listen on your tea breaks. But when Brian emailed me earlier this week saying “it’s amazing how much happened on Dec 15th” I knew this would be a good show. He hasn’t dissappointed me.
So please, have a listen here, and if you like it subscribe to the show and tell everyone you know!

[...] But the point of bringing this up is that the monthly chart of TPN Shows has arrived again, and three things spring out at me. First of all, Today in Music History has managed to get a good audience and break into the Top Ten for December – which is great given that it seemed to have a very rocky start in November. It broke into the Top Ten this month, so congrats to Brian. [...]
