Five Things – Finally Tagged
I wondered who would finally get me in the blog tag game of five things you don’t know about me. Jim finally did the honours, so here we go.
1. I’ve done stand up comedy both in the West End of Glasgow, and at The Stand in Edinburgh.
2. I can fly a glider, and if there’s another bubble I can join in with, then a Grob 103 Viking is close to the top of the list of shameless luxuries to buy.
3. I’ve only ever owned two flavours of home computer. I went from a Spectrum 48K (and variants up to the +2a), to an ex British Telecom branded IBM XT 8086 with a ‘massive’ 20mb Hard Drive, Hercules graphics card and an orange ‘monochrome’ monitor. I used every single trick in the book to squeeze speed and performance out of it, and it’s probably the computer that I miss the most.
4. I’ve written Star Trek fan fiction. It was planned to be around 30 chapters and my idea of what Voyager could have been like (ah yes, the year before Voyager started, when it showed so much promise), but I only posted seven. The plans and sketchings for the rest of the stored notes and chapters died along with my XT PC. But as with everything on the internet, it’s archived somewhere. So those of you wanting a giggle can grab this copy of an archived alt.startrek.creative posting of The New Frontier.
5. I managed to spend four years at University, and three of those years were first (freshman) years. First time around I studied Physics with Astronomy, second time around was Computer Science with Artifical Intelligence, and third time around I switched disciplines completely and moved into Nursing. My academic career halted when I fell down some stairs and damaged my back.
Right then, time to do the whole tagging thing, and attempt to find people who’ve not yet done the meme. So let’s see who’s paying attention and ping Chris Dunphy, Lori Summers, Howard Tomlinson, Randy Baseler and Cameron Reilly.
Turns out CC Chapman pinged me as well, but as he managed to miss-spell my name as Ewan Spense I never got the ping. D’oh!
[Updated Jan 16th. Mike Rowehl tags me, so I'll just slip in a trackback ping.]

It was obviously your day as I tagged you as well. It’s like buses, you wait for ages and then they all come at once.
