Probability and The UK Super Casino

The news that a Las Vegas style super casino has been confirmed as being in Manchester leads me to recall one of the most accurate quotes about the Nevada City I have ever heard. It was from Ben Metcalfe and it was (roughly): “I hate this place. Do you know why? I understand probability.”

No matter what they say about regeneration, better tourism, helping the area, there will be a company that is guaranteed to earn a fixed percentage from the people coming through the door no matter what may happen to individuals.
