[March 07] BarCamp Scotland

Appleton Tower at night This is the one that will kick everything off - a lot of work is going into this, and there’s a certain satisfaction that I’ll be returning to Appleton Tower on the Edinburgh University Campus (which is where the event is now being held). Many many years agao I can remmebr wiating patiently for ID to upload the DooM 2 demo to their FTP site, I can recall browsing the twenty sites in the world that NCSA Mosaic would open, and a lot of other truly geeky things.

Anyway, BarCamp Scotland. As with all BarCamps, people have posted up on teh site Wiki what they could talk about, but quite frankly it’ll all be decided on teh day by a vote… or a big piece of paper… or just ignoring anyone from west of the Harthill Services. With the number of businesses and academics on the list, it’s gong to be a great day of contrasts and information exchange.

And, in a sense, it’s my warm up day. Held on the Saturday, the first few Tech Conference shows in March will of course feature BarCamp Scotland quite heavile, but a few days after that, I’ll be on the multi-leg aircraft flights to get to the USA to start on the behemoth of SXSW. So four hours of conferencing, recording, interviewing and mingling is going to be my equivalent of some stretching around Blackheath before starting the London Marathon.

It’s gonna be fun!

Can’t wait to see some serious podcasting going on on the 3rd. I’ll bring my FlashMic along, too, so we can compare tools. See you then! (BTW: Cool the way the interview worked out - thanks :-)

I’m looking forward to returning to Appleton Tower too. Spent many an hour in there between 1996-2000
