Dear Don Imus, We’ll Hire You!

Don Imus was paid $8 million dollars a year. his show brough in $40 million dollars a year. He’s been fired from his US talk radio show (which was also “webcast” on morning TV). In no way was this because he upset the Media Barons who owned the transmission mechanism (or that he’s good at getting out the Democratic Party message out to a lot of people). The official reason is that tt was because of comments he made regarding a Women’s Basketball team.

Previously, on The Don Imus Show…

Now hand on heart I’ve never listened to an Imus show, but here’s what I’m thinking. This is someone who has ten million people listening to him, who choose to spend their personal time with him. And now, they are suddenly deprived of him. This is most probably a man who never need work again to support himself or his family. he has a voice that people want to hear. Sounds (to me) like the perfect recipie to leverage podcasting and get the idea of ‘casting out to the regular consumer – because they make up the majority of the world’ potential listeners. Crack that market, and you crack podcasting from a financial point of view.

He was on 20% of the advertising income. I think The Podcast Network can do better than that. Don, have your people call my people. The number is at the bottom of the page.
