A Few Observations from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Y’know, that caught my eye…

The Ships

Out of the three major fanfic works I adore, one of them forks at the end of The Goblet of Fire (THe Draco Trilogy), one starts with Harry having had a relationship with Ginny, and Ron & Herimone being together, but ready to break up, and the other has Ron falling in Battle, Harry having had a relationship with Ginny, and then (while single) notices Hermione. Sorry JKR, but a Ron/Hermione shipper I am not, and Epiloge or not that relationship is a non-starter. Plenty wiggle room there – and as for the Harry/Draco ship…

Draco caught sight of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny staring at him, nodded curtly, and turned away again.

Repeat after me. Ron is the humorous sidekick – he does not get the leading lady.

Fidelity and Ginny’s (Dis)honourable Intentions

Harry, just for a brief moment, turns into Rob Newman and The Mary Whitehouse Experience.

“Harry, will you come in here a moment?” …Harry followed Ginny into her room.
Ginny looked up into Harry’s face, took a deep breath, and said, “Happy seventeenth.”
“Yeah…thanks.”
She was looking at him steadily; he however, found it difficult to look back at her; it was like gazing into a brilliant light.
“Nice view,” he said feebly, pointing toward with window.
She ignored this. He could not blame her.
“I couldn’t think what to get you,” she said.
“You didn’t have to get me anything.”
She disregarded this too.
“I didn’t know what would be useful. Nothing too big, because you wouldn’t be able to take it with you.”
He chanced a glance at her. She was not tearful; that was one of the many wonderful things about Ginny, she was rarely weepy. He had sometimes thought that having six brothers must have toughened her up.
She took a step closer to him.
“So then I thought, I’d like you to have something to remember me by, you know, if you meet some veela when you’re off doing whatever you’re doing.”
“I think dating opportunities are going to be pretty thin on the ground, to be honest.”
“There’s the silver lining I’ve been looking for,” she whispered, and then she was kissing him as she had never kissed him before, and Harry was kissing her back, and it was blissful oblivion better than firewhisky; she was the only real thing in the world, Ginny, the feel of her, one hand at her back and one in her long, sweet-smelling hair–

Yep, he’s just blown a definite shag.

What if J.K. Rowling Needs To Buy A Carribean Island?

Let’s play spot the threads for a sequel

Harry has the cloak – the wand is back in Dumbledore’s Tomb, but the ring is lost. Ehrm, nope. Harry said this

“The thing that was hidden in the Snitch,” he began, “I dropped it in the forest. I don’t exactly here, but I’m not going to go looking for it again. Do you agree?”

…but dropped the ring here…

They had traveled on mere minutes when Harry saw light ahead, and Yaxley and Dolohov stepped out into a clearing that Harry knew had been the place where the monstrous Aragog had once lived. The remnants of his vast web were there still, but the swarms of descendants he had spawned had been driven out by the Death Eaters, to fight for their cause.

So just walk to there, hold up wand, and shot “accio ring.” You don’t need to know exactly where something is to accio, as JKR has seeded throughout the final book.

Now if some big bad was to grab one of the items, then you;ve got a great plot-line…
