It’s Junior Eurovision This Weekend!
Right then, it’s time for some fun this weekend… and the obscure fun that everyone the world over can join in with, for free. That’s right, it’s time for Eurovision! Actually that’s not strictly true. It’s now time for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008.

The format is pretty much what you expect from it’s more grown up cousin (The Eurovision Song Contest) that goes out in May each year. You’ve got representatives from countries in the EBU. 15 countries are taking part, unfortunately the UK is not one of them (shame, I’m sure we’ve got enough precocious 15 year olds on TV that are up for some Schlager Music).
Anyway, that’s not going to matter to me. I’ll be on Twitter and the usual Eurovision ESC haunts when the competition starts. While it’s not being broadcast on any of the UK TV channels, I’m hopeful the contest will be streamed live on www.junioreurovision.tv in the same way as it has in previous years,
Admittedly it’ll be a weird experience with no Terry Wogan commentating, but perhaps that’s not a bad thing. It’s likely to be a ‘clean’ stream with no added audio or video from the internet team, so we’ll need to make our own noise on the internet to go along with the visuals.

As we both know, there’s a big difference between “Older” and “Grown up” ;)
