How To Get Traffic At Christmas
One of the tough times for any website is how to keep the traffic levels (and ergo the advertising income) at a high enough level during the festive season. All About Symbian generally slows down, partly because Steve, Rafe and myself have little to write about, but also because the normal mobile phone watchers are off on holiday and aren’t browsing.
There is another way to get through the two main lulls – firstly the lead up to Christmas, and the second in the gap between Christmas and New Year. Controversy, or at least some thoughts that will lead to lots of comments and posts by others.
If you can manage that in each of the quiet periods, then you have it made.
Far be it for me to suggest anything untoward, but both Loic Le Meur and Michael Arrington (two people very much able to market themselves online) have been at the centre of such blog storms in recent days. In the lead up to Christmas the whole ‘The French Take Too Long Over Dinner’ topic started by Arrington, riposted by Le Meur, which lit up the cultural divide, and now we have the “Twitter needs Authority” started by Le Meur and deflected by Arrington.
Is this the right point to insert a smiley face?
